About the Tag
The reliability of trained curators meets the digital transparency of Blockchain.
The Tag is a proprietary, unclonable physical device affixed to the back of any artifact no bigger than the size of a penny. The device has a corresponding digital profile that captures provenance, authorship and location history. Our three-factor authentication process consists of handling parties (shipping carriers, warehouses, etc.), the customer and the digital token to securely verify and trace the artwork in perpetuity after enrollment.
Enrollment

- Any piece of artwork can be enrolled. Tags can be affixed by the original artist or sent to our reputed authenticity and verification specialists and curators to verify age, origin and authorship.
- The designated curator for the artist’s country completes the Artifact Enrollment process by creating the digital profile that corresponds to the physical tag. The Curator uploads the artwork’s data (e.g., origin, subject matter, medium).
- Using our preferred carriers, the artwork is shipped and moved from a designated curator warehouse or secure facility to the customer.
- Throughout the shipment process, the artwork proceeds through different stages or “gates,” where the tracking and timestamp information is updated.
- Each step in the shipment’s journey is verified through geo-location and facility codes. Clearances from Customs Authorities are recorded for high-value shipments.
- All movement, transactions and tag verification records enter a secure, immutable Blockchain network to preserve authenticity and provenance data. The buyer has access to these records at any time. Special data is offered to insurance companies and cargo handlers to further augment the observability of the artwork’s movement.
